Watercolor flowers

This past week I have been painting a few flowers and experimenting with some different techniques.
I used bubble wrap to stamp small circles over my single poppy. The bright colors in various shades turned out looking summery and have a nice movement to them.

For the tulip painting I worked on layering water colors and practicing smaller brush strokes. The delicate lines in the pieces are starting to make the paintings more realistic.

I hope to have time to take a water color class soon this summer to learn more techniques in layering and different ways to move the paint brush.

Necklace Making

Making necklaces has been a fun creative way to try using new tools & old. I loved working with the small quartz stones and gold wire.

The necklace turned out simple, pretty, and delicate. My friend loved it as a holiday gift!

Elder Care Project- Dream Catcher

This project was created for an Elder Care Course I was in this Fall. The materials I used were copper wire, beads, handmade paper breads, photographs, and shell beads.

The beading part was relaxing and therapeutic due to the repetitiveness. Bending the wire and rapping it tightly proved to be more difficult. The project turned out light, dreamy, and thoughtf.

Report Cover Art

For an art therapy class for elder care we chose an extraordinary elder and wrote a paper on the person. We also made a piece of art with images of the person and work for the reports cover.

I choose Georgia O'Keeffe due to her being a truly inspirational woman who continues to do art up unto she was 96 years old.

I printed the images, burned the edges of the paper, added flower petals from a farmer's market flower, and watercolor some of the edges.

Here is the cover art for the paper with her two beautiful works and picture of her.
